Prutton predicts winner in Bristol City v Leicester City clash

David Prutton believes Leicester City will be able to get a much-needed win on the board against Bristol City on Good Friday, making his prediction for Sky Sports.

The Foxes picked up a respectable point at the MKM Stadium against fellow promotion contenders Hull City, but won’t be happy about the fact they didn’t manage to win all three.

Because they were in FA Cup action on March 17th, this allowed Leeds United to overtake them in the table during the same weekend, which would have been a blow to Enzo Maresca’s side who had previously been in such a strong position.

Championship Table (As it stands March 27th)
Team P GD Pts
1 Leeds United 38 42 82
2 Leicester City 37 41 82
3 Ipswich Town 38 31 81
4 Southampton 36 26 73
5 West Brom 38 23 66
6 Norwich City 38 15 61
7 Hull City 37 7 58
8 Coventry City 37 16 57

Having travelled to East Yorkshire before their clash at Stamford Bridge, they are on the road again as they make the trip to Ashton Gate.

This away tie isn’t ideal for a side that needs all the support it can get, with the Foxes needing to turn things around if they are to secure a top-two spot.

However, with the quality of players that Maresca has at his disposal, Friday’s visitors will still be the favourites to pick up the three points against the Robins.

David Prutton predicts: Bristol City v Leicester City

The pressure of being favourites could potentially have a negative effect, especially with the Foxes’ poor recent form in mind.

But Prutton is backing the away side to come out on top with a 2-1 win, writing for his Sky Sports column: “Bristol City are trundling along and unlikely at this point to really impact either end of the table.

“So let’s talk about Leicester City. How have they found themselves second in the table?

“They are still somewhat in pole position and favourite to get promoted, but it really ought not to be this close.

“The nerves will be kicking in while Ipswich and Leeds will be full of confidence. They need to kick off Good Friday with a win, and I think they just about should.”

The Bristol City game is a must-win for Leicester City

The Foxes may be the team with the game in hand, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Leeds retain their place at the top of the table and Ipswich Town finish second if Maresca’s side don’t get their act together.

Ideally, Leicester need Jamie Vardy back at their disposal, because he will have plenty of confidence following his brace at Hull.

With the experience and ability he has, it wouldn’t be a surprise if it’s the former England international who makes all the difference.

He will be keen to guide the club back to the Premier League before he ends up leaving the King Power Stadium.

With this in mind, the striker will have plenty of motivation to do well if he returns to action this Good Friday.

This game is a must-win for the visitors, who need to get back into their rhythm.
