The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Golden State Warriors on Friday night, holding off Golden State’s late comeback attempt. The NBA has released their Last Two Minute Report for this game, and it includes a big missed call with right around one minute left in the game.
With the Mavericks leading 105-101, Warriors star Steph Curry made a deep three to cut the deficit to just one point. According to the NBA, Draymond Green set an illegal screen prior to Curry’s made three, which should have waved the basket off. While Dallas held on to win this game, this was a big missed call in a moment like that.
The NBA also released an explanation for the controversial blocking foul on Curry with 21.6 seconds remaining that was upheld after a challenge from the Warriors. In their explanation on this ruling, the NBA wrote, “Replay review of the foul called on Curry (GSW) pursuant to a coach’s challenge was deemed unsuccessful. Curry (GSW) has his heel positioned illegally above the restricted area at the time of the contact with Washington (DAL) when he attempts to draw the charge.”
This was a tough loss for the Warriors, and one that likely ends their pursuit of any seed higher than 10th. On their way to the play-in tournament, the Warriors will have to win their way to a playoff spot.
