3 Years Of Darkness For The Houston Texans.
For 3 years, things seemed to be getting worse and worse; firing back to back to back coaches from 2020-23, after continually dismal performances, and subsequently missing out on the 3rd overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft due to the Laremy Tunsil trade back in 2019.
However, after the selection of seemingly future superstar quarterback, CJ Stroud, with the 2nd overall pick back in April 2023, and the hiring of almost-Coach of the Year, DeMeco Ryans, fortunes have certainly swung in favor of Texas’ newest pro football franchise.
The Texans Already Off To A Strong Start In 2024
The Texans made numerous upgrades on what was already a fairly stout defense: Stud edge rusher, Danielle Hunter, consistently high-performing, veteran defensive lineman, Denico Autry and Foley Fatukasi, and linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair, who reunites with Ryans after their shared time together at the San Francisco 49ers, were all well regarded moves that added legitimate talent to a contending team.
After trading for the Buffalo Bills’ star wide receiver, Stefon Diggs, it is clear that the Houston Texans are all in for 2024, evidently aiming to make use of Stroud’s cheap rookie years to max out the ability of the other positional groups before his likely enormous payday arrives.
And now, we are getting our first glimpses of Stroud and new number 1 receiver, Diggs, in action together at OTAs, glimpses that will no doubt get Houston fans very excited for the ensuing season, per Jordan Schultz.
