A little panic as Tottenham move in for signing

Tottenham Hotspur have had their eyes set on Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori, just days after having secured a deal for Radu Dragusin from Genoa in January.

On March 27th, Tutto Juve stated Spurs are leading the chase for the centre-back. Earlier this month, we relayed news from Italy the north London club are ready to shop again in Serie A for the 21-year-old.

At the weekend, Tuttosport reported Tottenham are competing with Juventus for Calafiori in the summer window.

This is backed up by TuttoMercatoWeb, who provide more updates on the possible battle between the two clubs.

The Italy U21 international has starred under Thiago Motta in his debut season. This, coupled with his ability to play in a three-man defence and back four has helped him end up in the sights of several teams, including Tottenham and Juve.

TMW state there’s been talk of the Old Lady’s interest, but they must ‘watch out’ for the ‘rich competition’ from Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Spurs setting their sights on Calafiori worries Juve and may cause concern to Bologna, who are adamant that they won’t let him or other stars leave in the next window.

“We have a squad of players who are demonstrating their strength, we have a coach who we hope will continue with us, when we have greater clarity we will take stock, but this is not the moment. Zirkzee, Ferguson, Calafiori? We would like to keep everyone in red and blue, which is their colour,” Bologna CEO Claudio Fenucci said.

Calafiori is a truly impressive prospect but it doesn’t appear that Tottenham needs him. It would surely take an exit for the move to happen.
