Romano drops transfer update he’s heard out of Newcastle United

Newcastle United have given their hopes of qualifying for Europe a real shot in the arm with their 4-0 hammering of Tottenham at St James’ Park last weekend.

Although the Magpies haven’t quite reached the heights of last season, there’s still a good chance they could yet get a Europa League spot come May.

Or maybe even a Champions League spot, depending on England’s co-efficient.

Whatever happens, Newcastle will certainly not want to find themselves with a stretched squad as has been the case this season.

There’s a good chance the Magpies will be busy in the summer transfer market in order to bolster their ranks and challenge on four fronts next term.

However, Newcastle will likely have to keep spending down to a minimum in order to comply with FFP regulations.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update relating to what the Magpies apparently have in mind in the coming months.

What has Fabrizio Romano said about Newcastle United’s transfer plans?

Romano, speaking on GiveMeSport, has claimed that Newcastle will enter the free market to look for any gems this summer.

“They will try to find some opportunity on the market,” said the transfer insider.

“I think there will be at least one free agent signing for Newcastle this summer, so at least one will happen from what I understand.

“Then we will see if they will find some other opportunities.

“Newcastle will be busy with opportunities, but I think based on what they will do with the outgoings, there could also be some opportunity for some important players to join Newcastle.”

Newcastle will need to juggle the need to bolster their ranks with the need to comply with FFP regulations.

If the Magpies cash in on one or more of their main assets, then this will give them the chance to reinvest in their squad.

It’s a dilemma – who can Newcastle afford to lose in terms of quality, but also make the most money out of, in order to free up funds to stay within FFP rules?
