Leeds United staff member has just announced he’s leaving to join Derby County

Leeds United have made some considerable changes behind-the-scenes in the 12 months since 49ers Enterprises’ official takeover.

49ers have clearly made it their mission to ensure Leeds have the foundations of a Premier League club when they are eventually able to reach the promised land on the pitch.

Their first port of call was a complete overhaul of the club’s recruitment department, acknowledging that a one man army of Victor Orta simply was not enough.

After taking some time to find the right people, Nick Hammond, Gretar Steinsson and Jordan Miles are now all working alongside Daniel Farke when it comes to transfer business.

Other changes have included the departure of long-serving goalkeeping coach Marcos Abad, as well as a change in role for long-term academy manager Adam Underwood.

Leeds doctor Rob Price shares update on his future

Paraag Marathe is the front and centre of the 49ers ownership group, and it would be fair to say he is doing and saying all the right things at the moment.

It would seem that little by little, his staff are reviewing each individual department at Elland Road and there now looks to have been another change behind-the-scenes.

Rob Price has been head of medical for the last seven years at the club but has announced via his LinkedIn that he has now moved elsewhere.

As first picked up on by BBC journalist Adam Pope, Price has instead taken a similar role at Derby County, becoming their sports science and medical lead.

The Rams have just been promoted to the Championship and so Price is set to be in the dugout at Elland Road when the two sides meet again next season.

It is unclear at this stage whether it was Leeds’ or Price’s decision to move on, but the club will now be on the lookout for someone to come in and replace him.

Price will be a loss behind-the-scenes at Leeds

Price was part of the medical team in arguably the most demanding period of Leeds’ history under Marcelo Bielsa, joining in the same summer.

Bielsa would have Leeds’ players weighing themselves every day and so it will have been up to Price and his team to keep track of all those things.

Such was the demands Bielsa placed on his players during his time in charge, Leeds suffered with a vast amount of injury problems.

Price was, at times, criticised for his involvement in how often Leeds’ players would find themselves in the treatment room, but at such elite level sport under Bielsa, injuries were impossible to avoid.
