Leeds are close to meeting Sheffield United’s valuation for signing there star

Leeds United are heavily pursuing a move for Sheffield United defender Jayden Bogle this summer.

Amid the uncertainty surrounding Rasmus Kristensen’s future, as well as the exits of Connor Roberts, Archie Gray and Jamie Shackleton, right-back is a position of interest to Leeds right now.

Blades star Bogle is believed to be the one they are pursuing the strongest at this stage, with just a year remaining on his deal at Bramall Lane.

His contract situation, as well as the fact Leeds are a potential promotion rival, puts Sheffield United in a difficult position when it comes to his future.

They will be eager to avoid losing him on a free transfer in 12 months time, but he was a regular last season in the Premier League, making 34 appearances, so would be a big loss.

Report shares how close Leeds are to Bogle asking price

It has been suggested Sheffield United have slapped an asking price of £7 million on Bogle following interest from Leeds.

Blades paid a combined fee of around £15 million to sign both him and Max Lowe from Derby County back in the summer of 2020, and so the fee is fair.

According to the Sheffield Star, Leeds have so far seen two offers knocked back by their Yorkshire neighbours for the 23-year-old.

At this stage, it is not clear how much those offers totalled exactly, but the report states Leeds are still someway short of their valuation.

As such, it would appear that Leeds still have plenty of work to do in order to get this over the line, in what is a crucial position.

Having said that, Leeds must’ve been offered some kind of encouragement behind-the-scenes to have submitted a couple of offers already.

Leeds need to stump up Bogle cash swiftly

Given Paraag Marathe said Leeds would be in a strong position to get business done early, some supporters are getting restless at the lack of incomings.

At this stage, it feels more like Leeds are sanctioning a fire sale, with Willy Gnonto, Glen Kamara and Junior Firpo all having strongly been linked with exits in the last 24 hours.

Leeds need a signing of Bogle’s pedigree and cost not only to get fans back on side again, but also to avoid a repeat of last season’s slow start.

Even with his contract situation, £7 million seems like a fair fee and signing someone from a strong divisional rival would be a statement of intent.
