Aaron Rodgers had a forgettable debut campaign for the New York Jets, as he suffered a season-ending Achilles injury on the first drive of their 2023 season, so for sure, the team is more than eager to have him fully focused on his football comeback in 2024

Everyone was caught off guard when it was reported that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was considering Aaron Rodgers to be his running mate for this upcoming election on an independent presidential ticket.

And while the New York Times report has prompted reactions from the football and political communities, Rodgers’ New York Jets teammate Sauce Gardner couldn’t help but make light of the situation by having fun with the news.

“Ohhhh, Aaron bouta become the VP. That’s why he ain’t been answering my text messages ” wrote Gardner on his X (formerly known as Twitter) on Wednesday.

The New York Jets have yet to make a public statement in response to this report about their quarterback, and Aaron Rodgers himself has not made any comments either.

The Aaron Rodgers VP talks has elicited mostly negative reactions

In an exclusive scoop by the Daily Mail, the New York Jets are reportedly “upset” that Aaron Rodgers could leave his NFL career behind to run for public office with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in this upcoming election because it would be “ridiculous” for the four-time NFL MVP to be campaigning and playing football at the same time.

‘Aaron and Robert aren’t going to win. But for Aaron to consider helping run the country over playing for the team has many with the Jets all upset because you have to pick one or the other,” wrote Russ Weakland in the report.

“When Aaron is retired, he can do whatever the hell he wants, and the Jets aren’t paying him not to play. The team has already had to accept and take on his various controversial beliefs and comments. There is only enough leash they can give and offer Aaron, and they want him to be a teammate and not a running mate,” he added.

WFAN Sports Radio host Shaun Morash is also not a fan of these reports, saying that “this is the most Jets story of all time.” Aaron Rodgers had a forgettable debut campaign for the New York Jets, as he suffered a season-ending Achilles injury on the first drive of their 2023 season, so for sure, the team is more than eager to have him fully focused on his football comeback in 2024
