Heung-min Son may be 31-years-old, but Darren Bent reckons he is still worth up to £80m in today’s market. The former Spurs man insists he is surprised the club’s captain has never been signed by another club, and believes he has to win a trophy before he retires.

Since joining the club in 2015, Son has gone on to become a genuine Tottenham legend. He is now the club’s fifth highest scorer of all time, with 159 goals, and is the current captain.

This season, Son has been a shining light in Ange Postecoglou‘s side. The South Korean star has registered 14 goals and eight assists in the Premier League (Transfermarkt), and has rallied the team together like never before, with an incredibly positive atmosphere now evident among the squad.

Son has to win a trophy with Spurs

To date, Son is yet to win a major club honour with Spurs. There is a hope that can change in the near future now that Postecoglou’s revolution appears to be getting the team on the right track.

Darren Bent believes Son is too good a player to never win a trophy, and has expressed his surprise that no other club has ever properly tried to snare Son away from North London.

He told TalkSPORT (13/03, 5.15PM): “Far too good not to win anything. Way too good. I don’t know [why no clubs have come in for him]. You’d have to pay £70m or £80m. What a player.”

Spurs Web Opinion

A trophy is coming soon for Sonny and Spurs, I am sure of it. He is one of the best players we’ve ever had, and he truly deserves huge success before his career comes to an end. It would be a real shame if he never got to lift a trophy as our captain.
