Lucas Bergvall has admitted that Ange Postecoglou is ‘very fun’ as he prepares to join up with Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
Tottenham have already secured their first signing of the summer transfer window.
We may only be in mid-March but Tottenham have already snapped up Swedish talent Lucas Bergvall.
The Djurdgarden talent has emerged as one of the top young talents in Scandinavia and arguably Europe.
Barcelona looked set to win the race for Bergvall but Tottenham were able to hijack the deal and lure him to North London.
Bergvall will only join Tottenham this summer though, spending the next few months with Djurgarden.
Lucas Bergvall on Tottenham move
Bergvall’s decision to reject Barcelona and join Tottenham raised a few eyebrows.
Barcelona are one of the biggest names in the game but the Tottenham project seemingly tempted him into the move.
We have seen Radu Dragusin snub Bayern Munich for Tottenham and Bergvall has now followed suit by rejecting Barcelona.
The 18-year-old looks to be a silky midfield player, somewhat similar in style to Frenkie de Jong, but he will need to develop and improve at Spurs.
Bergvall has now spoken to Svenska Fans about his move to Tottenham – and the decision to reject Barcelona.
Bergvall admits that he was 50/50 on Tottenham or Barcelona, branding it an ‘incredibly difficult choice’ as two top clubs wanted him.
It was a ‘gut feeling’ to go for Tottenham in the end and he still feels that it was the right call more than a month since making his choice.
Bergvall added that boss Ange Postecoglou is ‘incredibly warm’ and ‘very fun’ having talked a few times, but he has so far heard more from technical director Johan Lange.
“As I have said before it was very much 50/50,” said Bergvall. “An incredibly difficult choice with two really good clubs. But I chose Tottenham mainly because of the gut feeling and the feelings I got when I met the club. Now, a month after I’ve made the decision, it still feels just as good. It feels like I’ve landed very well”
“Tottenham have been very good in their part and leave quite a lot up to Djurgården, because they know I want to focus here. It’s been a serious half year, so it feels really good actually. He’s an incredibly warm person to begin with and a fantastic coach so I’ve talked to him a few times. He’s very fun but I’ve mainly had contact with the sports chief, a lot of emails,” he added.
This move seemed to have Lange’s fingerprints all over it.
The Dane will be very aware of the top prospects around Scandinavia and he has now secured one of the best in Bergvall.
Tottenham’s new man seems to be loving his decision and he will be hoping for plenty of fruitful years under Postecoglou once he arrives in North London.
