Pereira, Praet, McAteer – Leicester City injury list and return date

Latest Leicester City news as Enzo Maresca shares an update on the Foxes’ walking wounded ahead of the game against Bristol City next Saturday

Leicester City have no choice but to pick themselves up and rediscover their very best form that has been enjoyed for most of this season, as they look to win the race for automatic promotion which, for so long this season, looked a foregone conclusion.

Slip ups in recent weeks, coupled with the relentless form of Leeds United and Ipswich Town, have now made the Championship promotion fight a far more interesting prospect than City would’ve liked it to have been, but still there remain nine matches to come and their fate is still very much in their hands.

Enzo Maresca’s cause has not been helped by injuries to key personnel over the course of the campaign. He has been without the likes of Jamie Vardy, Wilfred Ndidi and Callum Doyle over the course of the season, as well as having to cope without his stars who headed out to partake in AFCON in the winter. Still, now, there remain injury concerns…

Ricardo Pereira

The captain suffered a hamstring injury in training before the defeat to QPR.

What Maresca has said: “Ricardo is injured and he will be out until after the international break.”

Possible return date: It’ll be touch and go, and Maresca will be able to give an update next week, but all being well Pereira will be in contention for a return over the course of the Easter weekend.

Dennis Praet

Midfielder Praet hobbled off in the defeat to QPR at the King Power Stadium recently, clutching his hamstring.

What Maresca has said: “Dennis will be out for three or four weeks.”

Possible return date: It remains to be seen exactly when Praet might return to aid Leicester’s cause, such is the nature of the injury, but it’s likely he’ll make his return at some stage next month and be available for the remainder of City’s run-in.

McAteer picked up an unspecified knock at the beginning of the month and has since missed the league games with QPR, Sunderland and Hull, as well as the FA Cup ties with Bournemouth and Chelsea.

What Maresca has said: “Kasey is still out,” Maresca said before Hull. “It’s the same problem he had already in the past. It’s a bit less than the previous one, so hopefully we can have him back in two, three or four weeks.”

Possible return date: Back after the international break, hopefully sooner rather than later, but if it were to be the thick end of Maresca’s prediction, we mightn’t see McAteer until the welcoming of Birmingham or the trip to Millwall.
