Winston ‘love’ letter to New Orleans after joining the Browns

Jameis Winston was well-liked by fans in New Orleans during his time with the Saints, and the newly-signed Cleveland Browns quarterback issued a thank you note to the city on Wednesday.

Winston parted ways with the Saints this month, and signed a one-year contract with the Browns to be Deshaun Watson’s backup.

On Wednesday, Winston offered a “thank you” to New Orleans with a video that includes a note that expressed his love for the city.

The video starts out with Winston commenting on how New Orleans treated him when he first arrived from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“When I got here, this city … they took me in, and I respected that,” Winston said. “I really love that, and I was embraced by the city, and I love them back.”

The video goes on to show some of Winston’s highlights from his stint with the Saints, and then ends with a thank you letter with the quarterback adding his voice to the words.

‘NOLA,

The Super Dome is the birthplace of my first NFL win, so saying farewell I don’t know where to begin.

I’ll start with expressing gratitude and thanks to all of Who Dat Nation, the Saints organization, and especially (team owner Gayle Benson).

I am grateful for all my teammates, coaches, trainers, the entire Saints support staff and honestly, the whole city.

I’m grateful for the festivals, Mardi Gras, second lines, great music, world class chefs and witnessing the NOLA culture shine!

I’m grateful for the love, encouragement, perseverance and real people who embraced this little light of mine.

I love you New Orleans, through and through.

Trust and believe that y’all haven’t seen the last of Jaboo.”
