The Giants agreed to a deal to bring back one of the depth players in their secondary.
Cornerback Darnay Holmes and the team reached an agreement on a one-year deal, a source confirmed.
Holmes has played 54 games over four seasons.
He was a fourth-round pick by the team in 2020.
The move comes while former Giants outside linebacker Jihad Ward, 29, signed with the Vikings, the team announced.
Ward started 20 of the 34 games he played with the Giants over two seasons, recording 67 tackles, eight sacks — five coming last season — 22 quarterback pressures and four pass breakups.
The Giants no longer had a place in the lineup for Ward with the emergence of Boogie Basham to go along with Benton Whitley, Kayvon Thibodeaux, Brian Burns and Azeez Ojulari.
