Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has an array of attacking talent at his disposal as he looks to lead the Whites back to the Premier League at the first time of asking
There is no getting away from the fact that it would be a big blow to Leeds United’s hopes of picking up a positive result at Watford if Georginio Rutter is declared unavailable for selection. The mercurial Frenchman faces a race against time to be fit after recently undergoing hernia surgery.
Rutter has lit up the Championship with his creativity and flair in the final third this season. His attacking output reads seven goals and 16 assists. Incredible numbers.
When Rutter is in full flight, he is a joy to watch and arguably the best No 10 in the division. His vision and clever movement off the ball has terrorised defences.
Daniel Farke will no doubt provide a fitness update on Rutter at his pre-match press conference later this week. United would dearly love Rutter to feature in the Easter double-header with Watford and Hull City.
But the leaders are blessed with an abundance of attacking talent and could cope without Rutter. The last thing they want to do is rush Rutter back too soon to action and risk him missing more of the run-in.
The obvious replacement for Rutter is Joel Piroe. The form of Rutter and Patrick Bamford has meant that Piroe has not started as many matches as he would have liked in 2024. Piroe has found consistency hard to come by in United colours.
Yet the Dutchman has still contributed 11 goals and two assists to their cause. There is still time for Piroe to rediscover his best form and help the Whites get over the line.
