Glasner now handed new boost ahead of Palace vs Nottingham

After a week of disappointing news for , he’s been handed a massive fitness boost for Crystal Palace.

This week has been rather turbulent for Oliver Glasner as he’s had to watch on as two players who have played every minute of his reign so far, picked up injuries.

The two new worries are substantial blows for Crystal Palace at a pivotal point in the season, which Glasner was helpless to prevent as they both occurred on international duty.

Sam Johnstone went down first, being withdrawn from the England squad after an injury in training. Now he’s been confirmed to have a four-month lay-off after he received surgery on his elbow.

Now, there are worries that Daniel Munoz has joined him, despite no word on the seriousness just yet after he was substituted at half-time against Romania.

The blow of these two players picking up injuries has been eased ever so slightly though, with a key man now spotted back in first-team training.

Crystal Palace welcomes two players back to full training

On Thursday, fans spotted a player who was returning to training for Glasner after a substantial layoff. It is a return which will do wonders for Glasner’s attacking options as he’s arguably the best of the bunch.

Michael Olise is the man who has been seen back in training with the club’s official website posting images which showed Olise next to his partner in crime Eberechi Eze, as the pair stood side by side looking happy to be playing together again.

Olise will be hoping to continue the incredible campaign he’s been having to put himself back in the thinking of interested clubs, as his giant release clause might not look such a bargain amid concerns over his injury proneness.

A strong season finale could also see Olise handed the outside chance of heading to the Euros with France, he has after all been one of their best players this season without getting a call-up.

How many Crystal Palace players are still out injured

Despite the return, which will have arrived at a timely moment for Glasner, Palace are still struggling from a bit of an injury crisis.

The list of players who remain on the injured table is as follows, according to various sources including SofaScore:

  • Cheick Doucoure
  • Sam Johnstone
  • Rob Holding
  • Marc Guehi
  • Jeffery Schlupp
  • Daniel Munoz (potentially)

This list contains a substantial amount of players who’d be starting or on the bench if fit to face Forest, which shows just how weak Glasner’s side is right now.

The only hope is that some other names join Olise in returning sooner than expected and Palace can end the season on a high, which would be perfect for the Austrian.

Will Olise play against Forest? That looks unlikely at this stage, but he has been training for quite a while just not with the team so it could be a bench appearance for him, but stranger things have happened.
