Scarlett in line to be featured as Tottenham news prediction emerges

John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose believes Dane Scarlett will feature against Luton Town after his “phenomenal” time away with England’s Under-20s.

Scarlett enjoyed a positive March international break.

In his two Under-20 Elite League appearances, with one of those coming as a second-half substitute, the 20-year-old scored five goals.

He netted a 24-minute hattrick in a 5-1 win over Poland’s Under-20s on Friday (22 March), before scoring a brace off the bench in a 3-1 win over the Czech Republic’s Under-20s on Tuesday (26 March).

Scarlett has hardly featured under Ange Postecoglou since returning to North London after his unsuccessful loan spell with Championship high-flyers Ipswich Town.

However, after his contributions for the Young Lions, Wenham believes he could be handed some significant playing time when Tottenham host Luton Town on Saturday (30 March).

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham, the founder of reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, said: “Scarlett had a phenomenal international break.

“I was really pleased for him because I’ve seen some Tottenham fans downplay his potential as a result of the emergence of other young players such as Jamie Donley.

“Scarlett is still an amazing young talent and his form with England’s Under-20s tells you everything you need to know.

“Coming back to North London, his confidence will be flying high, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was handed 20 minutes or so against Luton on Saturday.”

Could Ange Postecoglou utilise Dane Scarlett against Luton Town at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday?

Scarlett will certainly feel as if he is ready to prove himself in North London.

It has been more than three years since he made his Premier League debut for Spurs, and after a couple of tricky loan spells in England, he has been unable to really kick on with his boyhood club.

However, as his recent international exploits demonstrate, he is more than capable of finding the back of the net, and it feels as if all he needs is one moment of magic to discover his confidence at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

That moment of magic could arrive against Luton, and with the forward on a high, Postecoglou would be wise to throw him in against the Hatters at some point during the match.

In other Tottenham news, an ex-Spurs employee has been left “baffled” by a sudden Manchester United development which has impacted one of Postecoglou’s star players.
