49ers Attempt To Take Tight End From Lions

The san francisco 49ers are looking to finally get over the hump and win it all after losing yet another super bowl by a close margin last season.

They have arguably the most talented team in the nfl, which includes george kittle, who is arguably the game’s best tight end

But depth is essential, and the niners, per ian rapoport, made a move on friday by signing detroit lions tight end brock wright, who is a restricted free agent, to an offer sheet.

Wright, 25, went undrafted in 2021 after three seasons at the university of notre dame, and in three seasons in the nfl, all of which have been with detroit, he has totaled 43 catches, 424 yards, and seven touchdowns.

His best season so far came in 2022 when he registered 216 yards and four touchdowns.

While kittle had an excellent 2023 campaign, he is 30 years of age, and perhaps it is time for san francisco to start to find his heir apparent.

Another player who needs to be replaced soon is starting left tackle trent williams, who has been regarded as arguably the best at his position for years, but is 35 years of age.

He is under contract through the 2026 season, and he said just prior to last month’s super bowl that he’s “definitely in for the next couple of years.”

Head coach kyle shanahan indicated at his season-ending press conference that the team may focus on upgrading its offensive line in next month’s draft.

It could really use an upgrade at right tackle, but it could also look at some centers or guards as well
