Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly prepared to cash in on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the summer transfer window.
A report from Football Insider has claimed that Tottenham have now decided to cash in on 28-year-old Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the summer transfer window as they want to secure a respectable fee for the midfielder.
Hojbjerg was linked with an exit from Tottenham in January as well. The Dane has fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou. The Denmark international is not a good fit for the Australian’s style of play, and he has been a squad player this season.
The 28-year-old needs to play regularly at this stage of his career, and a move away from Tottenham would be ideal for him. Although he has made 30 appearances this season, most of them have been cameos.
Hojbjerg has been linked with European clubs like Atletico Madrid and Juventus of late. It will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually. He has proven his quality in the Premier League with Tottenham and Southampton over the years.
There is no doubt that he is a quality player and can be a superb addition for most clubs. The 28-year-old midfielder is at the peak of his powers right now, and he will look to play regularly and compete for trophies.
Tottenham need to sign a quality central midfielder
Tottenham Hotspur will need to bring in a quality central midfielder to replace Hojbjerg, and they should look to bring in someone who can control the tempo of the game and add creativity from the deep.
The Australian manager has introduced a free-flowing attacking style of football at the North London club, and Hojbjerg has a conservative style of play. It is no surprise that he has failed to win over the Tottenham Hotspur head coach this season.
A move to Atletico Madrid could prove to be a superb opportunity for the midfielder, and he should be a good fit for their style of play under Diego Simeone. Similarly, he would be a good fit for Serie A with Juventus as well.
