PFF Gives Cowboys Notable Draft Honor

The Dallas Cowboys have been an absolute mess when it comes to free agency, trades, and contract extensions.

Jerry Jones’ business approach rarely works out to build a roster.

However, the team’s scouting department does deserve plenty of credit for the way they’ve been able to find, get, and develop talented players in the NFL Draft.

With that in mind, PFF chose them as the best team in terms of landing stars with their first pick in the past decade.

For those who need a reminder, dating back to 2015, the Cowboys have taken CB Byron Jones, RB Ezekiel Elliott, EDGE Taco Charlton, LB Leighton Vander Esch, WR CeeDee Lamb, EDGE Micah Parsons, OL Tyler Smith, and DL Mazi Smith with their first selections.

PFF argues that they’re at their best when they’re not reaching to fill a need, stating that they have also been able to make the most of a ‘best player available’ approach over the past couple of years.

Micah Parsons and CeeDee Lamb obviously stand out from the rest of the group, with Tyler Smith proving the doubters wrong after he was deemed too raw at the time he was drafted.

Leighton Vander Esch was a physical force when healthy, but his career was cut short by a myriad of injuries, while Ezekiel Elliott and Byron Jones were quite good for the team at the time.

As of now, it seems like the NFL Draft is the only hope this team has to get over the hump.
