Analyst Questions Texans’ Latest Move With Stefon Diggs

The Houston Texans pulled off what looked like a major coup this week when they landed star wide receiver Stefon Diggs in a trade with the Buffalo Bills.

Diggs had reportedly been upset with the Bills organization and quarterback Josh Allen for months, and he will now get the chance to start anew with a rising power in the Texans.

What makes this move interesting is the fact that Houston restructured Diggs’ contract to allow him to become a free agent next offseason, and it led Pete Prisco to tweet that perhaps the team had gotten rid of a second-round draft pick for a one-year rental of Diggs.

Diggs has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last four seasons, and at age 30, he’s showing no signs of slowing down any time soon.

He will be aided by the fact that he will be lining up with two young stud wideouts in Nico Collins and Tank Dell, who can take some defensive pressure off of him.

It will now be quarterback C.J. Stroud, who was a big story in 2023 as a rookie, who will be throwing the ball to Diggs in Texas.

Stroud had 4,108 passing yards and 23 passing touchdowns last season while making the Pro Bowl, and it appears he has the “clutch gene.”

Houston won 10 games in 2023 and made the playoffs, surpassing just about everyone’s expectations, and with Diggs on board, expectations should be sky-high for this fall and winter.

However, Diggs’ impending free agency should also put a fair amount of pressure on the franchise to go far in the playoffs.
