Glasner heavily impressed by Crystal Palace midfielder Michael O

Crystal Palace will face Manchester City in the Premier League at Selhurst Park on Saturday (6 April) and the Eagles have received a major injury boost.

Ahead of the game, Oliver Glasner has confirmed that Michael Olise will return to the side after a long injury lay-off. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder has badly struggled with injuries this season and has spent most of his time in the treatment room.

The exciting attacking midfielder has managed just eight starts in the Premier League in 2023-24, and Glasner has suggested that Olise needs more time to regain his full sharpness. Currently, Olise is not in a position to play the entire game, and can only play 15-20 minutes.

In all probability, Glasner will only throw him on the pitch if the situation demands. The new Palace boss, however, has been left heavily impressed by Olise in training and has raved about his finishing abilities.

Glasner said: “We didn’t train a lot this week because it’s the third game now, but of course he has shown his individual quality in possession,” Glasner said. “His dribbling, his finishing is great.

“But he was out now for eight weeks and for the fourth time this season, so he was more in rehab than on the pitch. We will give him the time to find his best performance, to get his quality back.”

Crystal Palace injury update

The Eagles will be without Chris Richards for this game. The USA defender missed the Premier League game in midweek against Bournemouth and will miss the clash against City. Glasner has suggested that Richards is set to miss the trip to Anfield also.

Marc Guehi is also not training with the first team, but Glasner is hopeful that the centre-back will join the side in the next three weeks.

The return of Olise will be a massive boost to the club, especially when the form has been poor. Palace have picked up just five points from their last five games, and the winless run could extend further if they drop points against Man City and Liverpool as well.

They are eight points above the drop zone and Alan Shearer has suggested that the Eagles will avoid relegation.

Palace can play a massive role in the title race. Arsenal fans will certainly hope that their London rivals can at least force a draw against either of the two sides, which looks difficult given the kind of form they are in
