Saka, Timber, Gabriel – Latest Arsenal injury news and return dates

Latest Arsenal injury news ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final clash against Bayern Munich

Arsenal continue their charge for a Premier League and Champions League double when they host Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.

Mikel Arteta’s side earned a comfortable 3-0 win at Brighton on Saturday night to maintain their momentum in the title race with Liverpool and Manchester City. Attention will now turn to Europe when they host Bayern in their quarter-final first leg at the Emirates Stadium.

And the Gunners were boosted at the weekend with the return of Bukayo Saka from a muscle injury. However, Arteta’s team still have several other injury concerns to deal with going into their fixture against the reigning German champions.

Below, football.london have taken a look at the latest Arsenal injury news ahead of a big week of European action…

Bukayo Saka

Injury: Muscular.

After missing the clash against Luton Town, Saka was back in the starting XI for the trip to Brighton. On his return, Saka scored to give Arsenal the lead before he was subbed off in the 64th minute.

What Arteta has said: “Yes, he is fine.”

Potential return date: Returned.

Gabriel Magalhaes

Just before half time, Gabriel Magalhaes went down after Danny Welbeck followed through when trying to block a clearance. The Brazil international was seen to by Arsenal’s physios before carrying on and completing the full 90 minutes.

Injury: Unknown.

Potential return date: Bayern Munich (H) – Tuesday, April 9.

Jurrien Timber

Injury: Knee

The defender has been recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered back in August during the Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest. His only other appearance came in the Community Shield against Manchester City.

Timber has been in team training since before the break. Despite Arteta’s hope he will play again this season, Timber was not in the squad to face Brighton.

What Arteta has said: “He’s doing very well. He’s back training, he’s not far off, the thing is that last step, he hasn’t played any minutes.

“Does he need a game with the Under-21s? Does he need two games? He’s constantly training with us to see how long that’s going to take him in that last part which is tricky and sometimes takes a while. Hopefully [he’s back] as quick as possible.

“I think he’s got a good chance [of playing again this season]. I don’t know a percentage but he’s got a good chance and he’s going to push it as far as he can.”

Potential return date: Unknown.
