Why Nick Chubb’s restructuring is a win-win; offseason

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb finds running room on a rush chased by Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson (55) and Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt in the first half, September 10, 2023, at Cleveland Browns Stadium.John Kuntz, cleveland.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Browns’ restructuring of Nick Chubb’s contract on Thursday was a win-win financially and otherwise.

The re-do, which significantly lowered Chubb’s base salary of $11.775 million and his cap charge of $15.85 million to a more manageable $6.275 million, is a good-faith effort by the Browns to reward a player who’s been the heart and soul of the team since he was drafted in the second round in 2018.
