Chicago Bulls: Monstrous DeRozan Poster Dunk Got Amazing Call From King

Chicago Bulls star DeMar DeRozan’s poster dunk on Sunday got the call it deserved from beloved Bulls announcer Stacey King.

DeRozan’s Bulls fell short in a 120-119 overtime thriller against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. But DeRozan was spectacular all night — both with his box score numbers and highlight-reel plays.

DeRozan began the fourth quarter with a bang.

With the Bulls leading 82-76, DeRozan made a backdoor cut along the baseline and caught a body in Knicks’ backup center Precious Achiuwa.

King whipped out his iconic “meet me at the rim and don’t be late” catchphrase after the DeRozan slam. But then he said it again with an accent all too familiar to anyone who has seen “The Lord of the Rings.”

King began speaking like Gollum from the movie, who famously referred to the One Ring as his “precious.”

King clearly saw his chance to put a creative spin to his catchphrase and took it. Otherwise, he would have had to wait for the next time DeRozan dunks on Achiuwa. Given where the Bulls and Knicks are in the final playoff seedings, it’s unlikely that they face off in the postseason.

DeRozan finished the contest with 30 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals. But Knicks superstar Jalen Brunson was just a little bit better. The diminutive point guard poured in 40 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists to seal the Knicks’ OT victory.

New York’s win secured them the second seed over the Milwaukee Bucks, who lost on Sunday in a blowout against the Orlando Magic.
