Dorigo blasts Leeds United star says he keeps making same mistake

Monday night saw Leeds United reignite their hopes of an automatic promotion place and secure an instant return to the Premier League – but, Georginio Rutter’s form is becoming a bit of a worry.

Leeds came from behind to win 4-3 at The Riverside in front of an onlooking Luke Ayling, who is on loan at Middlesbrough. A crucial win, that saw Leeds leapfrog Ipswich into second place in the Championship.

Since then, Leicester have of course gone on to place both hands on the Championship trophy without actually lifting it aloft. A 5-0 win over Southampton sees them go four clear, with two games left to play.

Leeds will need every player firing on all cylinders in order to secure two wins from the last two and really pile the pressure on Ipswich. Leeds next play on Friday, before Ipswich take on Hull City on Saturday.

Tony Dorigo critical of Leeds man Georginio Rutter on Monday

It gives Leeds the chance to go four clear – albeit – with two games in hand. But they will need Rutter to get back to his best before the. Yes, against Boro, the Frenchman won a penalty for Leeds’ first goal.

But on the whole, his performance was worrying. Far from the player we have come to love and cherish. Indeed, the stats prove it – he was dispossessed five times and his passing rate was a woeful 50%.

Indeed, it was Rutter that failed to hold the ball up and conceded possession for Boro’s second goal – as Emmanuel Latte Lath blasted one into the corner past Illan Meslier. Tony Dorigo criticised him on LUTV.

“The finish is superb but disappointing from our point of view. Meslier could have done a little better. The defence try to hold him up, keep him outside the box,” Dorigo said during LUTV’s coverage of the game.

“Georgi in these positions, got to do better – got to do better. He’s got away with losing the ball in bad positions before but not this time. Meslier should save that,” former Leeds man Dorigo added, on Rutter.

What other pundits have said about Rutter’s form, stats are poor

If you do not count winning a penalty as an assist, which is harsh, Rutter has now gone six games without a goal or an assist. Unlike a player that has previously had a hand in 25 goals and assists this season.

Aidy White said he should have been dropped, or rested, before the 1-0 loss to Blackburn. In hindsight, he was probably right. Don Goodman said he is one of four players to drop in form in recent weeks.

For Rutter, he needs to forget about his recent games. Perhaps, stop trying too hard. Trust in his quality and ahead of QPR, allow himself the freedom to play his own game and return to his brilliant best.
