Leeds United announced James injury update

Leeds United have confirmed that Dan James is going to miss their Championship clash against QPR due to an injury he sustained against Middlesbrough.

The Whites took to their official website to share the news that the Welshman “suffered a costal cartilage injury and an oblique abdominal muscle tear”.

The club said he will be “unavailable for Friday’s (26 April) to QPR” due to the damage sustained. With just two games left of the season, he could be out for the remainder.

Leeds could secure promotion in these fixtures so James’ injury absence will be a blow for Daniel Farke’s side.

Will Leeds United miss Dan James?

After returning from his loan at Fulham, he has scored 13 goals and assisted seven this season [FotMob] as the Whites strive for promotion.

This has been made more impressive as he has managed this after making just 28 starts and adding 12 substitute appearances.

According to Fbref, he ranks among the best-attacking midfielders and wingers for goals and assists this season. He also ranks positively with 4.34 progressive carries and 11.61 progressive passes received which help Leeds to get up the pitch.

The success of other Leeds stars Summerville and Georginio Rutter has overshadowed him slightly. Wilfried Gnonto has also swapped in and out of the starting XI with the Welshman.

Even if he isn’t starting, his pace is frightening for defenders late in a game which can certainly cause problems.

With Gnonto getting on the scoresheet against Middlesbrough and Jaidon Anthony also coming on, there are other options to make use of.

James will be a miss for the final games but it shouldn’t be the end of the world for Farke.

In other Leeds United news, Don Goodman raised a “concern” ahead of the win over Middlesbrough.
