Leeds United fans will be raging as controversial footage emerges from Leicester

Leeds United fans will be frustrated after Leicester City’s opening goal was awarded in their 5-0 win v Southampton despite a potential foul and offside in the build-up.

The move started with Wout Faes putting in a challenge on Che Adams in which he didn’t get the ball but no foul was given.

After this, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall won possession and picked out Abdul Fatawu to score the opener at the King Power.

Watching a replay of the goal, it appears that the winger is offside. Jobi McAnuff shared his opinion on the decisions on Sky Sports Football, shared via X.

He said: “Wout Faes does really well, I think, initially to go try and win that ball. I don’t think it was a foul. The offside, you have to say he looks like he might have gone slightly early. We know it’s a tough one without VAR to give.”

Could Leeds United catch Leicester City?

Leeds have been top-class this season and have remained consistent in general, especially after the turn of the new year.

With Leicester winning 5-0 at home to Southampton on Tuesday (23 April) they have extended their lead at the top of the table.

This sees them four points clear of the Whites in second place with two games remaining in the season. It looks unlikely but it is possible.

They face Preston North End and Blackburn Rovers in their last two fixtures which seem to be easy enough given their pedigree.

By comparison, Farke’s side face QPR who are all but safe from relegation and a Southampton team bound for the play offs.

This points towards the Whites securing six points in their final two games which they must do to keep up their promotion charge.

Six points from a possible six in their final two weeks could possibly see them promoted depending on the quality of their opposition.

In other Leeds United news, Mike Dean was appalled by what an “awful” Whites player did in his latest controversy.
