The Senegal international limped off after just 15 minutes in last Sunday’s Scottish Cup win over Hearts at Hampden.
Abdallah Sima is hopeful his season isn’t over at Rangers but Philippe Clement has ruled him out for a “couple of weeks” – with fellow wide man Rabbi Matondo also a doubt for Sunday’s clash at St Mirren.
On-loan Brighton man limped off during the Scottish Cup semi final win over Hearts, while Matondo was also substituted in that game. Clement said that latter’s was a tactical switch but has now said a “bad tackle” made him a doubt. Ridvan Yilmaz and Ryan Jack are pencilled in for a return to training next week.
Clement, speaking at his pre-match press conference said: “Sima will be out for a couple of weeks. I hope to see him again this season. He is very motivated for that. Matondo got a bad tackle against Hearts and is doubtful for the weekend. Ridvan and Jack I expect back in training next week.” With the Scottish Premiership no going into the post split, Clement said: “It’s exciting, to have the best teams competing with each other creates the tension and is great for the fans. I tell the players to have the best teams competing with each other create the tension and is great for the fans.
“I tell the players to win the next game. It’s the only way in a league, you will lose focus if not focused on the next game. Game by game, it is as simple as that, all the energy into the next game. If we look back at the last six months, we have taken the most points. Six months ago, nobody at the club thought it was possible. It is now about repeating this again and proving themselves in the next six games but even better.”
