Patriots Lock Down Christian Barmore With $92 Million Extension

New England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore has landed himself a hefty new contract extension.

According to someone familiar with the deal, he’s agreed to a four-year extension worth up to $92 million. The insider spilled the beans to The Associated Press on Monday, but they wanted to stay anonymous until the official announcement was made.

This extension includes a guarantee of $41.8 million, which means Barmore will be pocketing a good chunk of change. Barmore, who was drafted in the second round back in 2021, has been making waves on the field. In his three seasons, he’s racked up impressive stats: 133 tackles, 12 1/2 sacks, 18 tackles for loss, 32 quarterback hits, and even forced a fumble. He’s played in 44 games, starting in 11 of them. Plus, he didn’t miss a beat in the 2021 and 2023 seasons, playing in all 17 games each time.

His agent, Nicole Lynn from Klutch Sports, couldn’t contain her excitement about the deal. She took to social media, specifically the X platform, to share her joy. She mentioned how tough it was for Barmore on draft night three years ago when he didn’t get picked in the first round. But now, things have turned around, and he’s become one of the highest-paid defensive tackles in the game. Lynn credited their faith and perseverance for this achievement.

This contract extension is just the latest in a series of big moves for the Patriots’ defense. They’ve also managed to keep key players like safety Kyle Dugger and edge rushers Josh Uche and Anfernee Jennings on board during the offseason. The Patriots are serious about keeping their defensive lineup strong for the seasons to come.
