Brentford head coach Thomas Frank has given an injury update on Mathias Jensen – who was not in the matchday squad for the west London derby
kristoffer Ajer, who went off in the first half of Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Fulham with a facial injury; the Bees boss was pleased with the clean sheet in the Premier League clash but wants “more cutting edge” moving forward.
Jensen was not in the matchday squad for the west London derby, while Ajer went off in the first half with a facial injury.
But Frank hopes the duo’s knocks aren’t too significant ahead of next weekend’s clash with Bournemouth.
On Jensen, he stated: “It is a minor injury. If this was a play-off final or a Champions League final, then he would play, but we didn’t need to risk it.”
When asked if he had spoken to Ajer, Frank added: “No, I haven’t. I hope it’s not too serious.”
On the game itself, Frank was pleased with the clean sheet, which sees the Bees unbeaten for the fifth game in a row, but wants more cutting edge in the final two games of the season.
“It was a solid performance without being through the roof. Defensively, it’s always good to keep a clean sheet,” Frank explained.
“If you can’t win, don’t lose – that’s been a thing we haven’t nailed enough this season. So, in that sense, I’m happy.
“In a game where we didn’t hit our highest offensive level, it’s difficult to produce enough chances to try to get the winner. There was a lot of effort, willpower and we wanted to go for the win.
“But, on the day, we didn’t have the cutting edge.”
