Aston Villa plot ‘superstar signings’ after record-breaking

Aston Villa are keen to build a dynasty under Unai Emery’s management after he signed a new contract at the club, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed Emery’s new deal, which keeps him at the club until at least June 2027, has made him the best-paid manager in Villa history.

The Spaniard rejected interest from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and elite Premier League sides to stay at Villa Park.

Aston Villa are hugely ambitious and owners Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris are completely convinced by Emery and technical director Monchi, who joined the club last summer (2023).

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the club have “huge plans” to build a dynasty in the next five years.

Sources say “superstar signings” are set to come to the Midlands club once they have dealt with Financial Fair Play and Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) – which is currently hampering their ability to spend.

They broke their transfer record to bring Moussa Diaby to the club last summer (2023), spending a reported fee of £51.9million on the winger.

Villa were one of just three sides to vote against the introduction of a Premier League spending cap – which will reportedly be set at around £500million per season for transfer fees, agent fees and wages.

Emery is set to secure Champions League qualification in his first full season in charge at Villa Park.

The Spaniard has won 20 of 36 Premier League games this term with his side only needing to win against Liverpool next week (13 May) to secure a top-four finish.
