Friday’s start time has been delayed due to inclement weather in Queens.
Charlie Morton and the Atlanta Braves were expected to take the field against the New York Mets in Queens at 7:10 p.m. EST. However, Mother Nature had other plans for each team.
The first series of the year between each team was plagued by weather delays and fans will experience more of the same as Friday’s start has been delayed due to rain. Forecasts in the area show rain is supposed to continue through the evening.
However, with one makeup game already slated between both teams, the Mets will likely wait as long as they can to try and get this game played. While we wait for updates on the new start time for tonight’s game, you can check out our post for tonight’s probable starters and lineups here.

Braves provide an update on two injured relievers
Earlier today, Justin Toscano of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution provided a slight update on two of Atlanta’s bullpen pieces. He relayed that Pierce Johnson, who is on the injured list with right elbow inflammation, was expected to throw a session in the bullpen today.
Johnson joins a growing list of MLB pitchers dealing with elbow issues and that includes 2021 NLCS hero Tyler Matzek. Matzek was placed on the IL with inflammation in his left elbow. The lefty reliever just returned this season after recovering from Tommy John surgery so the team will be very cautious with him.
His timetable for return is not known and it appears he has been shut down from throwing for an indefinite amount of time. The Braves have a plethora of left-handed relievers at their disposal so they can afford to be patient with Matzek who was struggling to start the season with a 9.90 ERA through 10 innings.

One of baseball’s top pitching prospects will make his highly anticipated MLB debut on Saturday for the Pirates. Paul Skenes has been dominating the Minor Leagues and has looked ready since being drafted first overall in 2023 after a stellar LSU career.
The flamethrowing righty has a 0.99 ERA through 27.1 innings pitched (seven starts) with eight walks and 45 strikeouts. He is one of the most anticipated pitching debuts in baseball since Stephen Strasburg broke into the league in 2010.
