Lakers to start contacting head coaching candidates

The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to start reaching out to several names for their head coaching vacancy.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ search for their next head coach has begun.

According to an ESPN report, the Lakers are set to reach out to several candidates for their head coaching vacancy over the next several days.

The franchise will first talk to “sitting assistants and ex-head coaches with whom they have less familiarity.”

The report also stated that Lakers VP of Basketball Operations and general manager Rob Pelinka has been collecting information on several names, including ESPN analyst JJ Redick.

The initial list of interviews will reportedly include Miami Heat’s Chris Quinn and New Orleans’ James Borrego.

Earlier this month, the Lakers fired Darvin Ham, who coached the team for two seasons, leading them to a Western Conference finals trip last season.
