James Forrest explains the secrets of that bin bag

James Forrest has revealed the secrets of the bin bag that briefly had him trending on social media.

Across Europe all of the top stars have been reporting to international training camps dripping from top to toe in designed gear showing off endorsements from sponsors.

In Scotland they do things a bit different. Reunited with Kieran Tierney, Forrest turned up in plain, unbranded shorts and t-shirt clutching a black bin bag!

An image of Forrest compared with French defender Jules Kounde was soon flashing around mobile phones, speaking to The Sun the Celtic winger was happy to spill the details of his trending binbag:

A few folk sent that to me, and were saying about the French boys all turning up in their designer gear. I just had my boots in the binbag — it was easier to carry them in that. Kieran Tierney was the same.

Then you see the photo of the French boys next to one of me and KT and it’s all quite Scottish, isn’t it? But we’ve got no airs and graces. Me and KT are probably similar like that with our backgrounds.

Nothing has really changed for us, no matter how our careers have gone.

Forrest earned his 39th Scotland cap when he faced Gibraltar on Monday night but has a few days to wait before being certain of taking his binbag to Germany.

Ben Doak and Lyndon Dykes have both dropped out of the squad through injury, Tommy Conway of Bristol City has been added which leaves Steve Clarke with 27 players going into the match against Finland on Friday.

One of the four goalkeepers seems most likely to drop out but on the back of his end of season Celtic form Forrest seems certain to be heading on the plane to Germany next week.
