Coventry City transfer development as reported target flies to UK

Coventry City transfer news from CoventryLive as fuel added to the fire over reported Sky Blues target

Marko Stamenic – who it is claimed Coventry City have done a deal to sign from Red Star Belgrade – has fuelled speculation of an imminent move to the Championship club by travelling to the UK.

According to Serbian sports outlet Sportal.rs, the Sky Blues have splashed out £4.26m on the defensive midfielder – a claim that has caused much excitement amongst fans.

The online publication headlined their story this week as a ‘transfer bomb,’ saying it’s a ‘spectacular’ bit of business by the Belgrade club, otherwise known as FK Crvena Zvezda, claiming it has sold the holding midfielder for a ‘staggering €5m’ only a year after joining the club for free from Copenhagen.

CoventryLive understands the club have not completed a deal for any new player this week, although that doesn’t mean City aren’t interested in Stamenic, or that a deal isn’t in the pipeline.

Speculation about a move to England was further fuelled this week when Stamenic was pictured on instagram at a London restaurant (see below centre), with goalkeeper teammate Omri Glazer (right) and a friend (left).

This could all be circumstantial, of course, but CoventryLive sources in New Zealand understand there is firm interest in the player from the Sky Blues.
