Celtic tipped to re-sign Kieran Tierney in sensational twist – expert

Kieran Tierney would be happy to re-join Celtic this summer after falling out of favour under Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Scotland defender Alan Hutton explained that Tierney’s love for the club could attract him back to Parkhead, with a loan deal the most likely option.

The 27-year-old left to join Arsenal in a record-breaking £25million deal in 2019, but has now been tipped to make his return.

While a permanent transfer would likely be too expensive for Brendan Rodgers’ side to afford, there is interest from both sides in finding a deal.

Kieran Tierney wants to join Celtic in Arsenal transfer news

Football Insider revealed in March that Arsenal would entertain offers for the left-back this summer following his loan spell at Real Sociedad where he made 26 appearances.

Hutton insisted he is still an “outstanding” player and would improve Celtic’s team, although he may prefer to remain in the Premier League.

I think a permanent deal would be too expensive for them,” he told Football Insider.

He’s a phenomenal footballer, he’s got every attribute: one-on-one defending, he’s quick, he likes to dribble with the ball, he can take people on and he can assist.

He’s now played at a high level. I thought he was going to light up the Premier League but it’s not quite happened because of injuries.

Celtic could get him back. This is a club that he loves and it’ll pull on his heartstrings.

It’s something he’d like to do, he’d feel happy going back, but it would be very expensive.

A loan could possibly be an option, but for him personally, he might see it as a step back. He would be an outstanding player if they could get him back.”

In other news, Celtic have been tipped to extend their “huge” gap to Rangers.
