Cowboys Superstar Prescott Issues Challenge During Tight End U Appearance

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott took a bit of a break from what has been a pretty eventful offseason by making an appearance on this year’s iteration of the Tight End U in Nashville.

Cowboys tight ends Jake Ferguson and Luke Schoonmaker were both in attendance as most of the league’s best TEs gathered together to share best practices on the field. During his cameo, Prescott made sure to send an important message not only to his teammates but to all the tight ends who took part in the session as well.

Speaking from the perspective of an NFL quarterback, Prescott explained why he is adamant that the tight end is the QB’s “best friend” on the field. According to the three-time Pro Bowler, it is the TE’s responsibility to be on the same wavelength with his quarterback:

“Tight ends, you got to know the offense, every part of it,” Prescott said, via Michael David Smith of PFT. “I would say, I challenge you: you’ve got the run game, pass protections, all that. The next step is truly knowing what your quarterback is thinking when he’s throwing you the ball, because you guys are a quarterback’s best friend. When we’ve got to throw a ball across the middle to take advantage of our matchups on the outside, if we’re not on the same page as you, we don’t have a shot.”

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is here at Tight End U in Nashville, dropping some knowledge on the assembled tight ends, including George Kittle, Travis Kelce, Sam LaPorta and many more:

I see no lies here. For his part, Prescott will need all the help he can get from his tight ends this coming season. The 30-year-old is entering a crucial year as he potentially enters free agency next summer. How he performs this coming season will have a significant impact on his future in the NFL, and he would definitely benefit from being on the same page with his tight ends.
