Latest Celtic transfer news on keeper with £10m tag

Celtic may be forced to play a waiting game over Adam Idah with Norwich’s new manager vowing to run the rule over him

The Hoops and manager Brendan Rodgers are very keen on a permanent return for the striker who did the business for them after signing on loan in January. As it stands though, the 23-year-old is due back at the Canaries for pre-season and new boss Johannes Hoff Thorup has vowed to take a look at him to decide whether he fits his own plans.

He said: “Yes, definitely with that guy. He’s an exciting player. “And he’s from here, and he’s been in the club so many years and can do dangerous stuff up front. He’s fast, he moves well, he gets into these areas in the box where you decide games. So definitely, I will have a look at him, I think otherwise it will be stupid.”

The main area of concern this summer for Celts is between the sticks with a massive hole left by the retirement of Joe Hart. The latest name to be linked, in the Irish Sun, is Bournemouth’s Mark Travers. However, a £10million askring price is likely to scare the Scottish champions off.

Luke McCowan is a player Celtic are said to be keeping tabs on, while there has also been interest from MLS. Dundee boss Tony Docherty says his club are in talks with their player over extending the deal which ends next summer.

He explained: “There is speculation all the time. I take it and Luke should take it as a huge pat on the back for the season he had. There are other players who have had very good seasons. The nature of the game is that when you are doing well you will attract suitors. He is back in and is the life and soul.

“He is my wee social guy and is organising things. We have a social event on Friday when we are golfing after three hard days of pre-season. It is important we maintain that harmony and Luke is at the heart of that. You wouldn’t know anything different with Luke. He comes in, does his job and gets on with it.

“That’s why he is such a brilliant personality and such an infectious personality in that dressing room. He is going to attract attention but he is a Dundee player and that is the way things are.”

Meanwhile, Luis Palma has denied he is unhappy at Parkhead and could look to move on, insisting: “That’s the first time I have heard of that. I have no idea where that came from. I have only been at Celtic for a year. I have four years left of my contract. “I am focusing on the new season and getting back to the level I was at when I first arrived. It won’t take much to get me back to that.

“The pre-season will be important for me because we want to become champions again, I want to work harder to ensure that happens again. This week the pre-season begins at Celtic, but I get extra days off because I was playing with the national team.”

One man who could be leaving this summer is Rocco Vata. Celtic are waiting to hear back on a deal offered to the out-of-contract youngster, but Sky Sports are now reporting that is likely to go unsigned, while Watford and Palermo have both entered talks with the youngster.
