Tottenham deal causes excitement as pre-agreed transfer takes new twist

Tottenham are doing the right thing by sending Luka Vuskovic out on loan this season as there is no rush to integrate him into the first team, Alan Hutton has said.

Tottenham News sources first revealed back in March that Spurs and his current employers Hadjuk Split were jointly working on finding the 17-year-old defender a loan move for the 2024-25 season, with Spurs having agreed a £12million deal to sign him from 2025 (Evening Standard, 25 September)

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed via X on June 21 that the Croatian centre-back had arrived at Belgian club Westerlo for a medical and to sign forms ahead of a season-long loan.

Former Spurs defender Hutton, speaking to Tottenham News, thinks it is exactly the right course of action to be taking at this juncture of his fledgling career.

“It’s an interesting one, it’s something Tottenham has done for years,” he said.

“They’ve brought players in at a young age or players coming through the academy, yes they have integrated them at times especially in pre-season but if the manager felt at the start of the season that they probably would not make the breakthrough at time it’s good for them to go out and get the experience.

“So, I’m with it, I know he’s an exciting player and will probably go and reach those heights in years to come but there’s no need to rush it at this moment in time. Allow him to go and get that football to come back as a better player, the manager will know best.”

Tottenham have a plan for Luka Vuskovic

There is a lot of hype surrounding Luka Vuskovic at Spurs and the fact they paid an eight-figure fee for a teenager shows just how highly they rate him.

A season playing football in a decent European league is perfect for his development at this stage of this very young career.

In a year’s time, it might look a little different but for now it is a move that you have to say really does suit all parties.

In other Tottenham News, a player-plus-cash deal could be on the cards for one Spurs man.
