Leeds United Face Competition From Celtic For £1 Million-Rated Gem

Leeds United are looking to bolster their ranks this summer and are weighing up a move for a highly-rated attacker in Norway but face stiff competition from Celtic and a side in the Premier League, according to reports.

The Whites will likely lose a number of key players before the transfer window slams shut at the end of August. Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto seem to be the heaviest linked with moves away from Elland Road after the club failed to earn promotion last month.

Summerville was the West Yorkshire outfit’s top goalscorer and most productive player last season, bagging 21 goals and recording 10 assists in all competitions under Daniel Farke. Only Southampton centre-forward Adam Armstrong registered more goal contributions than the Dutch winger.

As a result, Summerville has garnered interest from clubs in the top-flight, including Chelsea and Liverpool, although reports over the past week have revealed that Brighton and Hove Albion are leading the race for his signature and will secure his services should they pay upwards of £30 million to Leeds.

Nevertheless, this may not be the only time that Leeds United lose a player to the Seagulls this summer. A publication in Africa, via Leeds All Over, are claiming that the Whites have made an approach to sign Ghanaian youngster Edmund Baidoo after the 18-year-old’s superb displays in Norway with Sogndal, who are currently managed by former Leeds, SunderlandChelsea and MK Dons striker Tore Andre Flo.

However, SportsWorldGhana have revealed that Brighton are in the running to sign the teenager who has caught their eye in the Norwegian second division, while Scottish champions Celtic and Belgian giants Club Brugge are also interested in Baidoo who has a market value of £1 million, as per Transfermarkt.

Baidoo has had an excellent season in Scandinavia, scoring eight goals and earning six assists in just 17 matches. He is undoubtedly a rising star in Norwegian football and may make the jump to the United Kingdom this summer.

Furthermore, Baidoo was signed to Sogndal by former Wolverhampton Wanderers star Håvard Flo, the cousin of head coach Tore Andre Flo. Perhaps these siblings have kept in contact with some of their former clubs, including Leeds United and already had discussions of potentially selling the young frontman to the Championship promotion-hopefuls.
