Omari Hutchinson had a great season on loan at Ipswich Town last year, playing a key role in getting the Tractor Boys back to the Premier League after a 22-year absence.
Now, it looks like Hutchinson will be playing a key part in Ipswich trying to stay in the Premier League as well, with reports today speaking of a £22m deal between the two clubs, with Chelsea also getting a sell-on proviso as well.
Hutchinson seemed to bid final farewell to Ipswich at the end of last season, but with head coach Kieran McKenna ending the links to Chelsea (and Manchester United) by signing a massive new deal with Ipswich, their ambitions have been laid clear and have changed the narrative around Hutchinson’s future as well.
The £22m (plus the future sell-on) would be a decent return for a player who essentially came (back) over from Arsenal’s academy just a couple years ago. It’s a crowded field here at the moment at his position, so for him it certainly would make plenty of sense to stay with Ipswich, and this time for good.
