Following a previous update from former WalesOnline journalist Paul Abbandonato, which suggested that Arsenal were among numerous interested Premier League clubs, the admiration of top-flight newcomers Ipswich Town has now surfaced.
This is as per Darren Witcoop on X, who has claimed that Tractor Boys boss Kieran McKenna is a keen admirer of Colwill.
The ex-Manchester United coach had been the subject of significant interest from Chelsea and Brighton and Hove Albion alongside talks of a potential return to Old Trafford after guiding Ipswich to improbable consecutive promotions from League One to the Premier League.
However, McKenna swiftly silenced the growing worry within Suffolk by putting pen to paper on a fresh long-term deal ahead of Ipswich’s voyage into the Premier League for the first time in over 20 years.
Thus, Ipswich are now ready to undertake the necessary squad surgery in order to acclimate to life in the top-flight, although McKenna, who has showcased his remarkable ability to maximise player potential, is naturally focusing on the long-term strategy, too.
This could well see Ipswich secure a swoop for Colwill in the coming weeks and months.
Whilst the nine-cap Welsh international is yet to truly ignite the Championship, fleeting moments of brilliance are evidently enough to illuminate his undoubted talent.
Cardiff can likely expect their resolve to be tested not merely by Ipswich but perhaps further prospective Premier League suitors – though a significant decision also rests with Colwill.

Another question on the lips of Bluebirds supporters pertains to Colwill’s valuation, as potential buyers will be investing more into the potential as opposed to expecting an immediate impact.
With that in mind, Cardiff won’t be willing to sanction a sale on the cheap and the underlying numbers provide a further insight into Colwill’s talent and promise.

The numbers leave little doubt towards the rationale of interested Premier League parties, although pundit Carlton Palmer expressed his concerns and outlined a potential valuation when speaking exclusively to Football League World.
Palmer said of Colwill: “I don’t believe that Cardiff City will sell him, unless they do a deal where they buy him and loan him back to Cardiff, but I don’t see the point in that for Ipswich at this present moment in time.
“What is he worth? You would think he would be worth about four or five million at this stage, but as I said, the reports coming out of Cardiff is that Rubin Colwill is set to stay where he is for now.” .
