Leeds United ‘walk away’ after demand, ex-Sunderland man lands move

Here is the latest Leeds United news and from their rivals in the Championship including Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday.

Ben Godfrey price tag

Leeds United were keen on a loan move for Ben Godfrey in January as the Everton man struggled for game time at Goodison Park. They won’t be returning for the former Norwich man this summer, though, it seems with Everton said to be looking for a fee of around £15m.

That’s according to The Athletic, who claim the Toffees have already turned down a proposal of £8.5m from Serie A outfit Atalanta. Godfrey has just 12 months left to run on his deal and after rejecting the offer of a new contract, he could well be on the move this summer.

Godfrey made 15 appearances in the Premier League for Everton last season after forcing his way into the side at the back end of the campaign. He’ll be hoping to play more of a key role next season, though, wherever he ends up.

Former Sunderland player completes move

Former Sunderland midfielder Ethan Robson has completed a deal to join League Two side Carlisle United.

Carlisle are looking to bounce straight back from relegation last season and manager Paul Simpson has moved to bring in Robson, who has signed a two-year deal at the club. The 27-year-old, who played 14 times for Sunderland before leaving for Blackpool, was a free agent after his deal at MK Dons expired.

Sheffield Wednesday transfer news

Swedish attacking midfielder Svante Ingelsson, 26, is known to be a target after his contract with German second tier outfit Hansa Rostock was rendered invalid after their relegation. The Star understands that the former Sweden youth international has been receptive to a Championship move and that it is a deal that could progress quickly.
