Senegal international centre-back Moussa Niakhaté (28) is edging closer to sealing his €31 move from Nottingham Forest to Lyon, according to a report from Le Parisien.
The 28-year-old has reportedly undergone a medical with the Ligue 1 club. Moussa Niakhaté is expected to put pen to paper over a four-year deal in the coming hours. The outlet understands that Nottingham Forest and Lyon are exchanging the final documents to ratify the deal.
Moussa Niakhaté’s departure was sorely needed by Nottingham Forest as the Premier League club had to make sales before June 30 to avoid PSR-related penalties. The Tricky Trees were docked four points last season. L‘Equipe understand that Moussa Niakhaté’s signing was drafted and agreed upon by Evangelos Marinakis and John Textor who both chair multi-club ownership structures. Nottingham Forest are also due €17.5m from Lyon as part of Belgium international midfielder Orel Mangala’s move to France.
