Romano drops fresh Paqueta transfer update at West Ham United

West Ham United have no plans to loan out Lucas Paqueta, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist reported via X on Friday (5 July) that the Hammers have no interest in accepting Flamengo’s bid to re-sign the 26-year-old on loan.

The Brazillian side will try again to get a deal across the line in the coming weeks.

However, West Ham would only accept a permanent transfer offer for Paqueta.

Will Lucas Paqueta rejoin Flamengo from West Ham United?

This is perhaps one of the most surprising transfer stories of the summer, if not the most surprising.

Back when Paqueta was being linked with the likes of Manchester City no one could have predicted that just a year later the talented playmaker would be linked with a move back to Brazil.

However, with the player’s future unclear due to the betting charges against him, it seems as if a move back to his homeland might be on the cards.

It is no surprise that the Hammers want some sort of fee if they are to let Paqueta leave.

There is every chance that the player won’t be able to feature again for the club, nor will he be sold in a big-money transfer.

As a result, the Hammers might be considering cutting their losses now and taking what they can get.

A loan offer doesn’t really offer them any security, but a permanent transfer would.
