Packers All-Pro Reacts Bluntly To Clark’s Monster Deal

The Green Bay Packers are known for paying their own players for AT LEAST a second contract when they prove their worth.  The 2024 off-season saw them make some splashes in free agency, however, that hasn’t always been the trend.

The Packers extending Kenny Clark was back to their “status quo.”  Another Packers defender had something to say when he heard the news.

Green Bay Packers’ All-Pro Has Blunt Reaction To Kenny Clark’s Monster Deal

As previously reported:

According to NFL Analyst Adam Schefter:

Packers Pro-Bowl nose tackle Kenny Clark signed a three-year, $64 million extension today with Green Bay, per sources.

The deal was negotiated by @Wasserman agents @DHendrickson41 and @CJLaBoy and pays Clark $29 million in 2024 and could bring his career earnings to over $150 million.

Clark made the switch from nose tackle to defensive end last season and had a great season.

In 2023, Clark had 7.5 sacks, ranking third on the team. In addition, Clark led the Packers with nine tackles for loss.

In addition to 16 quarterback hits, Clark also had two forced fumbles and three passes defensed. The league data shows Green Bay’s run defense was 0.18 yards per play better when Clark was on the field, and its pass defense was 0.51 yards per play better.

His season was capped by joining Henry Jordan (1960-61, 1963, 1966) as one of only two Packers defensive tackles to make three-plus Pro Bowls.

When Keisean Nixon saw the news, he had one thing to say:

Packers and Love wanted to have this contract signed before the start of training camp on July 22nd.  The negotiations, however, appear to be tied to the beginning of training camp.

It is important to note that Love is planning on attending training camp regardless of the contract talks:

“Starting quarterback Jordan Love will be there, even without a contract extension, a source told Packers on SI.

The race is on for the Packers and Love to agree to an extension before training camp begins with the first full-squad practice on Monday. Whether Love would participate in a ‘real practice’ without an extension isn’t known or hasn’t been decided.”

Clearly Love’s teammates are behind the idea of Love being paid like one of the best quarterbacks in the entire league.
