Liam Manning exclaimed, “I’m proud of the players,” following Bristol City’s victory over Preston.

Following the Robins’ decisive 3-1 victory over Preston, Bristol City head coach Liam Manning expressed his pride in his squad.

After just six minutes, Yu Hirakawa gave the Robins the lead when he saw a bad back pass, poked the ball past Freddie Woodman, and walked it into an open net.

However, the Reds quickly rallied as Sam Greenwood’s deft free kick beyond Max O’Leary gave the home team the equalizer shortly after halftime.
O’Leary launched a quick counterattack, and City scored after two passes from Mark Sykes to Nahki Wells, who headed the goal back in.

Later, midfielder Max Bird scored his first goal for the team, putting the ball into the bottom corner after Hirakawa had played it in, to complete the three-point victory.

After the game, Manning said, “I’m proud of the players.”

It wasn’t always the most beautiful game. We were unfortunate to pick up a few injuries during the first half, which was stop-start. Given that we had to make last-minute adjustments in the first half and that we also modified our shape, [we] handled it rather well. I believed it demonstrated our cultural values of problem-solving and finding a solution. The second and third goals in the second half were truly exceptional plays that were worthy of winning the match.

With the victory, City’s winning streak now stands at eight games, and as of Saturday night, they are in eighth place.
